Rough Week

'Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.'

Inner Pirate

While I didn't go to Texas Tech nor am I an avid watcher of the show, "Friday Night Lights." But, I did grow up in Lubbock and I find this clip mildly entertaining and somewhat inspirational.

"And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit!"

Run this B@%$*

On Sunday, April 26, I ran my first (of many) half marathon- The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon to be exact. It was a lot harder than I expected especially since I had been training since January. There were many miles, mostly the ones up hill, that were tougher than others. It was the people on the side of the road with their encouraging words and signs that really helped me to get through and uphill. There are a few signs that have stuck out in my mind and I just have to share them with you.

Words of Encouragement:
“Release your inner Kenyan.”
“Running is a mental sport…and I think you are all insane.”
“Run this B@%$*” – this I must admit was my favorite sign

Up Next: My running partner (Diana) and I are starting to train for the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC on October 31.

30 before 30

This whole blog idea got started because I compiled a list of 30 things to do before I am 30 and writing a blog happens to be one of the things I would like to accomplish. The trick to this is I want to actually continuously update this blog with all my “nuggets of knowledge and nonsense.” I hope you enjoy reading it and if you don’t have a little pity on my husband and mom who HAVE too.
